Bridgetown, ÐÓ°ÉÐÔ°É February 17th, 2021 (CDEMA) – The Virtual Caribbean Safe School Initiative (CSSI) Pre-Ministerial Forum has been organized through a collaborative effort between the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction – Regional Office for the Americas and the Caribbean (UNDRR ROAC), Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA), United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Office (UNESCO) in Latin America and the Caribbean, United Nations Children's Fund (UNCEF) and the governments of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and St. Martin.

Bridgetown, ÐÓ°ÉÐÔ°É February 1st, 2021 – The Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) successfully hosted an online training programme and simulation exercise in geographical information systems (GIS) for disaster risk management (DRM) in the Caribbean region. The training programme was delivered between January 11th and 28th 2021, with the final two days dedicated to a simulation exercise where the participants’ learning was tested in a controlled scenario, under time constrained conditions.

Bridgetown, ÐÓ°ÉÐÔ°É January 12th, 2021 (CDEMA) – The CDEMA Coordinating Unit has received funding from the United Kingdom Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (UK FCDO) in the amount of £51,000 through the Memorandum of Understanding on the ‘UK Support for the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) Response Teams programme’. The funds will cover the cost of a rotary helicopter aircraft, which will be used to support access to sampling of the extrusive materials, air lifting equipment to the flanks of the volcano, surveillance/reconnaissance to analyse changes in the volcano and other relevant support to the monitoring of the volcanic activity.
