DIRECTORATE GENERAL OF CIVIL PROTECTION, HAITI REPORTED:

• On Monday, 24 January, 2022 shortly after 8 AM, the Seismological Unit of the Bureau of Mines听and Energy recorded a series of tremors ranging from magnitude 3.5 to 5.5 on the Richter scale.
• These tremors, whose epicenters are located in the Nippes Department, were felt in other departments of the country including the South, South-East, West, Artibonite and North.

SITUATION OVERVIEW

A 7.2 magnitude earthquake was recorded on Saturday 14 August at around 0830 am in the South Region of Haiti. The epicentre was located 13 km to the South-South-East of Petit Trou de Nippes, in the Departments of Nippes, Grand'Anse and Sud, with a combined population representing around 16% of the country's total population, estimated at 11.4 million. The earthquake, which was at a depth of 10 km, was followed by a number of aftershocks.

SITUATION OVERVIEW

A report from Haiti Civil Protection Department Director Dr. Jerry Chandler to the Caribbean Development Partners Group (CDPG) on September 9, 2021 stated the following:

• First response and search and rescue efforts have concluded and the reconstruction phase is underway, with the assistance of partners and humanitarian agencies. This phase is expected to last for another
  month.
• Many schools and churches which serve as temporary shelters, have been impacted and rapid evaluation is being done to determine which are accessible and functional.
