Bridgetown. ÐÓ°ÉÐÔ°É, July 9th, 2015 (CDEMA) - Mr. Ronald Jackson, Executive Director, Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) will deliver a public lecture on July 9, 2015 on Vulnerable Populations In Emergencies as part of the observance of World Population Day 2015. The lecture is being hosted by the Planning Institute of Jamaica (PIOJ) in collaboration with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Caribbean Sub-Regional Office, and will take place at 3.00p.m., today, at the Don Mills Training Room, PIOJ.
The lecture seeks to heighten awareness of the region’s vulnerability to hazards of all type, and to highlight the needs of key vulnerable groups. The lecture will also share good practices in incorporating these special needs in disaster mitigation, preparedness and response plans.
The Honourable Noel Arscott, Minister of Local Government and Community Development in Jamaica, heads the list of high level officials who have been invited to attend the lecture. In addition, the event is expected to attract members of the public and UNFPA partners from Civil Society and the United Nations System.
