Bridgetown, ÐÓ°ÉÐÔ°É, April 30th, 2015 (CDEMA) - The Coordinating Unit and Participating States of the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency, extend sympathy to the people of Nepal, particularly those who suffered loss or were displaced as a result of the earthquake which struck on Saturday, April 25th.
We understand only too well the severity of disasters such as these. Five years ago on January 12, 2010, CDEMA was called to respond to the most catastrophic event in the history of the Agency when Haiti, a member of the CDEMA family, was struck with a 7.0 magnitude earthquake. That experience has taught us that tragedies such as these are moments of common humanity and that much can be achieved when we work together in support of a common goal.
In this time of grief, we express support and solidarity with the people and government of Nepal as you seek to recover and rebuild from this tragedy. You are in our thoughts and prayers.
