Bridgetown, Ӱ, October 26, 2011, (CDEMA) – A photographic E-Book and video feature on the history and achievements of CDEMA will soon be available across the region. Acute Vision Inc. and Digiscapes Ӱ, two private sector partners, signed an agreement to co-sponsor the productions at the CDEMA Coordinating Unit on Friday, October 21, 2011.
Jeremy Collymore, Executive Director of CDEMA, expressed his appreciation to the two companies for their investment in these products.
“We are extremely happy and appreciative of the sponsorship of these productions particularly at this time as we seek to aggressively increase the visibility profile of Disaster Risk Reduction and to deepen the engagement with our private sector partners.” He said.
Mr. Collymore also noted that the works are going to be an important contribution to the body of knowledge on disaster management in the region.
Chairman of Acute Vision, Donna Redman, spoke of her passion for producing public education and awareness materials on disaster management issues for use across the Caribbean. She said that Acute Vision was very pleased to be associated with CDEMA and the production and felt that the story of the development of disaster management over the last 20 years needed to be told.
Kent Jordan, Director of Digiscapes, in echoing the sentiments of Acute Vision’s Chairman expressed his Company’s long and engaging experience in working with CDEMA in spreading disaster risk reduction knowledge.
Acute Vision and Digiscapes are jointly sponsoring the video documentary and the Photographic E-book is being produced by Acute Vision. These products are in commemoration of the 20th Anniversary of institutionalised disaster management in the Caribbean. The Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) formerly, the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Response Agency (CDERA), was established in 1991 as the lead agency for disaster management by an agreement of the Heads of Government of CARICOM.
The Photographic E-book will be launched at the 6th Annual Caribbean Conference on Comprehensive Disaster Management being held at the Hyatt Hotel, Trinidad and Tobago, December 5-9, 2011 and the video feature at the 2012 Meeting of the CDEMA Council.
These works are intended for general audiences but will also be of value to disaster management professionals, practitioners and researchers.
