Bridgetown, ÐÓ°ÉÐÔ°É Monday September 20, 2010 (CDEMA) – Disaster Risk Management (DRM) experts at Haiti’s Civil Protection Directorate (CPD) will benefit from training in Emergency Communications through the CDEMA’s Haiti Technical Assistance Program. CDEMA’s HTAP staff will facilitate a three day workshop from September 22- 24, 2010 in Port au Prince supported by regional Emergency Communications and Information and Communications Technology specialists.
Bridgetown, ÐÓ°ÉÐÔ°É, Tuesday September 14, 2010 – (CDEMA) – Regional Disaster Management and Legislative experts are meeting in ÐÓ°ÉÐÔ°É, on Friday September 17, 2010 to develop and finalize tools and procedures for the implementation of revised Model Disaster Management Legislation.
Bridgetown, ÐÓ°ÉÐÔ°É Monday August 30, 2010 – The Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) – Over the weekend CDEMA Participating States of Antigua, Barbuda, Montserrat, St. Kitts, Nevis, Anguilla and the British Virgin Islands were threatened by the Hurricane Earl. According to the National Hurricane Centre, at 11:00 a.m. this morning, Earl was located near latitude 18.7 north, longitude 63.6 west. Earl is moving toward the west-northwest near 15 mph. A turn toward the northwest is expected on Tuesday. On the forecast track, the center of Earl will pass near or over the northernmost Leeward Islands this morning and near the Virgin Islands this afternoon and this evening. Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 120 mph with higher gusts. Earl is a category three hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson scale. Additional strengthening is forecast.
