Caribbean Institute For Meteorology And Hydrology (CIMH) Analysis
The Caribbean Institute for Meteorology and Hydrology (CIMH) has been monitoring this system as it continued on its trajectory towards the Lesser Antilles. CIMH provided the below weather update as at 11:00 am Monday August 24, 2020.
Weather - Tropical storm conditions were expected across the Cayman Islands and much of Cuba today. Heavy rainfall was expected across Cuba and Jamaica today, with the possibility of mudslides and life-threatening flash and urban flooding.
Winds -Tropical storm force winds were not likely to significantly impact the Cayman Islands.
Rainfall/Flood -Rainfall amounts of 4 to 6 inches were expected in the vicinity of Cayman Islands and over portions of Jamaica during the passage of Laura.
Seas 鈥� High swells and rough seas likely to result in minor damages to vulnerable coastlines throughout the Bahamas.
