Bridgetown, ÐÓ°ÉÐÔ°É Thursday November 18, 2010 (CDEMA) – CDEMA and the Department of Disaster Management in the Virgin Islands are hosting a National Consultation for the Adaptation of Model Disaster Legislation and Regulations on Friday November 19, 2010.
This is the next step for the Virgin Islands in the adaptation process for disaster legislation previously developed and now revised by CDEMA under the Institutional Support and Capacity Building for Disaster Management in the Caribbean Project.

The Canada Caribbean Disaster Risk Management (CCDRM) Fund invites Caribbean-based non-governmental organizations (NGOs), civil society organizations (CSOs), and community based organizations (CBOs), to submit proposals for projects designed to reduce disaster risk in vulnerable Caribbean communities.
A wide range of organizations are eligible to apply to the CCDRM Fund. They include, but are not limited to, youth groups, women’s groups, church organizations, service clubs, fisher associations, farmers groups, district disaster management organizations, environmental groups, and associations for the aged.
The Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) in association with its partners and in collaboration with The Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM) will host the 5th Annual Caribbean Conference on Comprehensive Disaster Management at the Rose Hall Resort and Spa in Montego Bay, Jamaica from December 6-10, 2010.
